What they say: One year after Erica Spencer falls to her death at a lavish Halloween party, the residents of the exclusive gated community where she lived have comes to terms with her loss and started to move on with their lives.
Then a post on the school’s website announces there will be a podcast to expose what really happened on the night of the accident. Six suspects are named, with the podcaster promising to reveal the murderer by the end of the series.
Everyone in this community has something to hide, and one of them is already a killer…
What lengths will they go to, to keep their secret?
The Review: I had seen this book everywhere and anywhere and what with that cover, the descriptions, the reviews and coming across the lovely author on social media, I kept pushing this book forward, telling myself to get to it quickly!
What a premise! Basically, we find out someone is dead (with an opener that gave me chills!) and the suspects are no longer suspects until a podcast materializes claiming to know who the murderer is.
I got a pen and paper out in the middle for the characters, who for some reason I couldn’t get to grips with, as much for differentiating between their names than anything else, and moved from chapter to chapter, my own ideas forming.
I was reeled in as we were passed along a group of people who all have their secrets, where as much as wanting to know who the murderer is, you’re also itching to find out who would put out a podcast that is slowly tearing the lives of this group of people apart, and why would they do it? Although the ending wasn’t me I really enjoyed this. I moved from chapter to chapter, sucking in every single interaction and happening of a community that reminds you of Desperate Housewives and enjoying ‘hearing’ the podcasts too. Definitely looking forward to reading some of the author’s other books, which are raved about everywhere.
