What they say: Ellie’s dreams of opening a bakery in Sunnybrook are finally coming true and best friends Fen and Jaz are happily rallying round, helping her to plan a fabulous grand opening day. Everything in their garden seems to be rosy –until the arrival of a newcomer brings chaos to the village and tests relationships to the limit. Can the bakery succeed in the face of such upheaval? And more importantly, can firm friendships survive?
The Review: This is most definitely my favourite of the Duck Pond series to date! From the start, as we meet the latest addition and get a feel for her past, secrets and issues, I felt for her (thats all I’m saying about the, er, person in question!) and loved her. Her backstory is very different, and I loved her first few days involving her vaulting up a tree! Everything about her folded nicely into a lovely mix of grit, warmth and comedy as well as some nicely done drama.
Ellie didn’t always interest me as much as our new arrival, and the unexpected obstacles said newbie had to face in the form of another, cattier at times addition, which hammered home how great some of the characters are in this series (again, a special mention for Rose!) And made me nod along.
This was a book I gobbled up, and I cannot wait to get to Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe!! ( Disclaimer: Apologies for the vagueness of this review, but I’m going by the blurb and keeping up the suspense!)
About the author
Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café.Confetti at the Little Duck Pond Cafe will be the sixth in the series
