I am so so thrilled to be part of the blog tour for this gorgeous novella-and there’s a giveaway too!
What they say: It’s two days before Christmas – and Evie Harris finds herself both manless and jobless. After a chance encounter with handsome Greg (and egged on by her toy-boy-eating friend, Bea) she agrees to work at a homeless shelter on Christmas Day. Striking up an unlikely friendship with homeless Yves, Evie begins an unwitting journey of spiritual awakening, all set against the sparkling winter backdrop of London landmarks. A New Year’s Eve revelation is on its way . . . but will it leave Evie with a happy heart, or will she allow the pre-Christmas past to dictate her future?
The Review: So our lovely story begins with us meeting Evie, who is now single, jobless and feeling that, at 32, all her dreams are getting away from her. I warmed to Evie at the start, finding her outspoken, outgoing and extremely likeable. I kind of knew from the blurb that this was going to be more of a ‘message’ type Christmas book, but I loved the fact that there was such a nice mixture of Christmas warmth, lessons to be learned, very nicely done through Yves, with that nice bit of comedy and modern references (Gavin and Stacey anyone?!), and some sad moments and descriptions too. I had had two plans for where the book was going to go, and actually it did veer towards one of them, but not in the way that I expected. I enjoyed immensely, read in once sitting, and grinned and nodded at the end. Extremely enjoyable and very much recommended! Thanks so much to Rachel’s Random Resources for allowing me to be part of this great tour! (Now get down to the bottom of the page and win a copy!)
